The Annotation Tool allows you to leave notes on the scene from review sessions, such as feedback, action items, or ideas. Notes are attached to elements so you can easily refer back to the issue.
There are currently 2 ways to create an Annotation note within the scene:
1. Desktop annotations
Simply activate the tool using the "pen and paper" icon in the Toolbar (screen left). This will allow you to view all annotations already created, or add a new annotation.
To create a new annotation, click the "Add new" button at the top of the panel. A text entry field will appear for you to enter your comment. Once confirmed, click on an element in the scene to associate your note.

2. VR annotations
To create a note whilst in VR you may use voice via the microphone on your HMD. Simply activate the Annotation Tool (bottom-middle icon on the Toolbar), at the bottom of the new panel there is a field marked with a Microphone icon. Simply click within the field, wait for it to read "Listening..." and speak your annotation.
You may then place the resulting note in the environment to associate it with an element.

If you are encountering unexpected behavior, the following are some steps toward determining the issue and correcting it.
- Make sure your Input Device is set to the microphone on your HMD
- If your HMD does not have a microphone you may use another microphone on the PC, to enable it to hear you best when standing away from it you might want to try turning up the Gain. Right-click the Audio icon in the Windows tray, select "Open Sound Settings", select the correct input device and configure the audio effects and increase the Gain. (Note: this can result in poor or noisy audio at too high a setting, experiment finding the best level for your room setup.)
- Enable dictation in Windows, find it in your Control Panel under 'Get to know me' in Settings > Privacy > Speech, inking, & typing
