How to check if your computer is VR Compatible
Currently, to run VR you need a high-performance computer so that it can constantly output 90 frames per second to mimic how your eyes view the world.
To check if your computer can run VR you can download this compatibility tool from Oculus Rift (https://support.oculus.com/1357437467617798/):
- Go to https://ocul.us/compat-tool to download the compatibility check tool.
- Open the tool and click Start.
If you are looking at the HTC VIVE, Steam also has a Performance Check available (http://store.steampowered.com/app/323910/SteamVR_Performance_Test/):
- Download the SteamVR Performance check here.
- Open the .exe and run.
Both these tools will tell you whether your machine exceeds or meets the minimum requirements to run the full Oculus Rift experience. If your computer doesn't meet the minimum requirements then you can either upgrade components to match the requirements or look at upgrading to a new system.
